Octavia Art Gallery is pleased to announce our Fidelity Bank White Linen Night exhibition entitled Digital Reality.
Digital Reality is an exhibition that relies heavily on the use of technology in its creation. Artworks in this exhibition include video, projections, hybrid paintings, holograms, NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and accompanying paintings and limited-edition prints.
The artists featured in Digital Reality include Jessica Bizer, Eric Hoffman, Naomie Kremer, Rebecca Rose, Dan Rule, and Laria Saunders. These artists explore the virtual world with an array of endless ideas, possibilities, and hope.
Artist Jessica Bizer creates mixed-media installations defined by a sense of fluidity and dreamy disorientation. These multi-layered landscapes greet viewers with a sense of abundance and discovery. Driven by divergent and often contradictory narratives, her work is inspired by the persistent overlap between the real and the imaginary worlds.
Eric Hoffman creates digital drawings that explore surrealist themes, often seen as creatures with attitudes in obscure landscapes.
Naomie Kremer became intrigued by the surprising perceptual and psychological experience of viewing video and painting simultaneously, which she refers to as her “Hybrid paintings” – a melding of painting and video that blurs perception.
Rebecca Rose has fully immersed herself into the crypto world, creating digital collage NFTs and holograms that lift off the viewer’s flat device screen and enter physical space.
Dan Rule creates video animations and corresponding paintings that explore both literal and imaginative landscapes. Focusing on science and philosophy, these works emphasize and subvert our idealized visions of particular landscapes, people, and concepts.
Laria Saunders creates photo assemblage paintings and NFT’s that come alive to jazz. She explores transformation from suffering and most of her work was created bedridden in the dark due to chronic illness.
Digital Reality celebrates the development of new technologies that are becoming more accessible every day. Thus, allowing artists to document the reality of living in the contemporary, digital world and pushing the technological and creative limits of visual art both virtually and physically.
*A special thanks to Rebecca Rose for onboarding exhibited artists into web3, to KnownOrigin for providing a curated platform for NFTs (knownorigin.io), and to Dan Rule for the use of AV equipment.
